Strong magnetic hold, quality productSep 10, 2011

I purchased four of these latch sets primarily for the size of the latch and the strength of the hold. I have a metal furnace grate which stands vertically, flush against the wall. It has been attached to the wall via two screws. The holes for these screws are in wood and have been stripped to the point that the only way to hold the grate in place was to angle the screws into the wood and pray. I decided that a magnetic hold would work if I could find the right ones.
I now have disregarded the instructions which come with the latch set (nice of them to put them in though...) and attached one piece to the wood at four points (I bought 4 latches...). The magnets attached to the metal grate at four corresponding points to the wall ones, which when the grate is flush to the wall, holds it in place. The grate is fairly heavy and the bottom of it does sit on the floor, but I'm happy with the 'fix'. I think I will buy 2 more sets to strengthen the hold, but so far it's worked better than those two screws, so it works for me.
The sets are well made, arrive in packaging that is secure with all the parts pictured. The strength of the hold would be excellent for wood cabinets in a kitchen or bath. I would have no hesitation about buying them again, or recommending them to others.
