This Fan BlowsSep 12, 2009
By Richard G. Labance Out of all the 12v fans I looked at this one had the most power. It is a great fan for an even better price. I would recomend this fan for everybody.

You get more than what you pay forAug 19, 2010
By J. Calton Basically all of the reviews before mine are accurate: this fan is loud, it rattles, and it's cheap construction. But it's incredibly powerful and it works great. I'd give the fan 3-4 stars if it cost more, but for twenty bucks it's definitely a 5-star item.
I also have a Coleman Free-Standing Tent Fan and this blows it away. The Coleman is good inside a tent and can cool 1-3 people (low-hi) but this Westward will cool 3-6 people (low-hi) and can also be used outdoors [it is powerful enough to blow in open space--the Coleman really isn't]. I used it at picnic tables during summer camping season and people at the other end could feel the breeze from the fan.
The only problem is it's 12V, so I hooked up a car battery charger which gives at least 24 hours of power, as well as providing outlets for charging electronic devices. Of course it also has a very bright light and can jump-start the car if it goes dead, or inflate tires.
The charger I used was from O'Reilly but something like Energizer 84020 All-in-One 12V 18Ah Battery Jumpstarter with Air Compressor and Power Inverter is comparable.
Obviously this solution is not compatible with hiking due to weight, this is for car-camping only.

Terrible QualityOct 13, 2011
By Albert Friske On first use, the motor sounded like it was struggling and cycling, as if someone was turning a volume switch up and down quickly. I contacted the seller, and was told (politely and timely) that they were just a middleman and to contact the manufacturer. Within one week the head of the fan fell right off its mount. Two small BB-like steel balls came out, and there are various loose parts inside the fan now. It is useless now. This transaction was a complete disappointment.

not a big fanAug 18, 2010

"Fuzzy string theory"
Puts out a fair amount of air for its small size and the speed controller has mounting brackets. The main problem is the fan makes a lot of noise (vibrates and rattles) due to the mount pin being loose as well as a fan blade that may be somewhat off balance. It gives off a vibrating harmonic noise. Maybe mine was poorly assembled, hard to tell. I guess you get what you pay for.
Not quite ready for prime time.Jan 03, 2012
By Anthony V. Roselli As others have said it is too noisy for most application except in a car running down the freeway with all the windows open. Then again, why would you need it if all the windows were down. Look for another if possible. The sad thing about is that it does run very well otherwise.
