Debases the whole point of a simple contact voltage testerJan 21, 2012

Packaging advertises itself as a "contact AND non-contact voltage tester".
The entire purpose of a contact voltage tester is to NOT sense ANY non-contact voltage. If a multi-function tester has no method to disable non-contact sensing, then it HAS NO USEFULNESS AS A CONTACT TESTER.
I'll admit here, that I may not be understanding the instructions for contact voltage-testing. But I'm a smart guy with years of experience doing electric work. If I can't figure it out, then it's an over-complicated simple screwdriver type tester and/or complicated enough that field errors are almost guaranteed. Not a good thing when what you're testing is live power wires.
DON"T BUY THIS. Hold out for a no-batteries CONTACT ONLY tester that tells you, clearly and simply, whether the wire you touch with the tester has significant voltage to ground, or not.
